Communion

1 Corinthians 11:23-32

Why do we do this?

  • It is a command of Jesus himself
  • It is to remember Jesus’ life, death and resurrection and ascension
  • It is a sign of the new covenant
  • It announces that Jesus died for us
  • It is only until He comes again

How do we do it?

  • We break some bread and pour out wine
  • We give thanks to God for them
  • We eat some of the bread and drink wine
  • We think about Jesus – his life given for us
  • We give thanks to God for Jesus’ death
  • We remember all the blessings that we have because Jesus died for our sins on the cross to make us his own people

What preparation do we need?

  • We should examine ourselves.
  • Do I know Jesus as my Saviour and Lord?
  • We can become Christians now if we confess Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9)
  • Am I obeying Jesus in my life?(1 John 1:7)
  • If we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all our wrong doing. (v9)
